General

Kestrel Cottage is a well-appointed 3 bedroom, two storey cottage located in the charming village of Horning. It’s positioning within a private marina offers excellent views of the River Bure as well as a great opportunity for direct fishing from the decked terrace. The spacious accommodation sleeps up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms all with their own en-suite facilities. Suitable for families, a friends get together and also for some who may have limited mobility. Two of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor, a master bedroom with patio doors leading onto the waterside terrace as well as a twin bedroom with its own shower room. On the first floor you will find the 3rd bedroom with a super king size double and en-suite shower room. The spacious open plan kitchen/dining /lounge area extends out to a furnished balcony offering views of the marina.

The property comes with its own mooring so you may wish to hire a day boat and take advantage of exploring the Broads by water for a different perspective. It is also the perfect spot for the avid fisherman where you can catch Pike, Tench, Bream and Roach. Alternatively, be poised with your binoculars to spot the abundant wildlife whilst enjoying your morning cuppa out on the terrace. Caution should be taken at the water’s edge as there is an unfenced drop from the terrace to the river. Horning is a picturesque village with many convenient and interesting shops, a deli, butchers, newsagent, post office, small grocery store and several restaurants & tearooms.

If you are looking for activities for children then Bewilderwood in Horning is the perfect treetop adventure for them to expel some energy. Paddleboarding and bike hire are also available locally in Horning. Both are an excellent way to get out and explore along the riverbanks. A short drive will bring you to Wroxham Barns which is a craft and shopping outlet. It has various activities and events on throughout the year. Wroxham is classed as the heart of the Norfolk Broads and you will find a large supermarket here if you need to get any supplies. A 20 minute train ride from Wroxham would take you into the heart of the medieval city of Norwich where you can spend an afternoon strolling through the ancient cobbled streets and browsing the unique independent shops and cafes. The beautiful Norfolk coast such as Cromer, Horsey or Great Yarmouth are a short drive away and provides that nostalgic day out at the seaside. On return to your cottage enjoy the last of the sunshine out on your terrace before heading to one of the nice restaurants in Horning for dinner.
