There are opportunities to do anything associated with mountains and water such as hill-walking, sailing, water-skiing, angling (the salmon and trout of the Dee, Tay, Don and Spey are world-renowned), canoeing, white water rafting, pony-trekking, off-road driving, rock-climbing, snow and ice climbing, and skiing.
Many other sporting activities include cycling (there is a cycle route through the environs of Dundee), gliding, parachuting, falconry, tennis and golf (the area has numerous championship courses, including the British Open Course at Carnoustie, and nearby St Andrews). Other challenging links courses and around 60 varied courses within an hour of Dundee.
The Angus Glens provide great walking, climbing and pony trekking, and are a magnet to bird watchers and botanists, particularly Glen Clova.

Location - The Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort is situated on a stunning lochside location in beautiful Angus countryside on Scotland's picturesque East coast just a few miles from the city of Dundee, ‘City of Discovery’ – with world famous Carnoustie Golf Links nearby too. Dundee has the largest indoor shopping centre on the east coast of Scotland. The estate is less than an hour's drive from the superlative Angus Glens for those who want to enjoy some of the best hill walking in Scotland.
Fishing - There are few better pastimes than fly fishing for trout, and few better places for it than the fishing pools of Kingennie Fishings, near Dundee. Kingennie Fishings, created and owned by former Scottish National Fly Fishing Champion Mike Forbes, is home to some of Scotland's most famous trout fishing pools and provides excellent fishing for experts and beginners alike, all year round. Whether you prefer fly fishing for trout, or fishing with bait, both are available on the four well-stocked fishing pools.
Golf - Golfing enthusiasts could scarcely pick a more ideal location, with world famous golf courses nearby at Carnoustie and St Andrews and over 30 quality golf courses within an hour’s drive.
Kingennie golf course, opened in summer 2007, surrounds the Forbes of Kingennie Estate, and has been designed to be a challenge for all levels of golfer. Beautiful panoramic views of the Tay Estuary and St Andrews. To complement the golf course a Driving Range with Target Golf and an 18-hole putting green also built to USGA standards is available.
