Outdoor activities

Fishing

Fishing is available on a private stretch of the river Wensum which runs through Mill Lodge Farm & Wensum View containing Roach, Dace, Pike and the odd Brown Trout.

There are numerous well stocked day ticket lakes and rivers in the surrounding area containing all species.  The owner is a keen fisherman and will be pleased to advise the options available.

Wensum View Cottage boasts two areas on Mill Lodge Farm for fishing. The first is a private stretch of the River Wensum. The river contains Roach, Dace, Pike, Chub and the odd Brown Trout. The second area is a purpose built carp pond, which contains King and Ghost varieties. The pond also contains Roach. Previous clients have used the facilities to teach younger members of their family the fine art of fishing. If you wish to be taught how to fish please email or call us for further details as this can be incorporated into your stay with us.For those not drawn to fishing, families of swans and ducks frequent the river and appreciate being fed by visitors to the farm or why not try your hand at pond dipping!

Mill lodge farm’s proprietors make every effort to work with the environment agency and in Jan 2010, were otters inhabiting the river. However, it is unlikely that you will be lucky enough to see one. Many species of bird such as Kingfishers and little Grebe frequent the river. Sheep use the 6 acres of land for grazing and in the springtime, the lambs are a joy to watch as they frolic around the meadow.

Wensum view cottage provides the ideal place for the whole family with something for everyone to enjoy.
