Melfort Village is a hamlet of luxury self catering holiday cottages which comprises of some thirty two individual cottages. A small holiday village nestled in the hills and oak woods at the head of Loch Melfort, amidst some of the most beautiful scenery on the West Coast of Scotland. This Scottish Tourist Board 4 Star award winning village offers extensive leisure facilities within its grounds and together with the wide and diverse choice of activities available locally, there is plenty to occupy you whatever the weather! Melfort Village also has its own restaurant and bar - 'The Shower of Herring', serving delicious meals and snacks. Families welcome.
Cottages are available to rent all year round with the exception of the first two weeks in January. They are furnished in comfortable country house style with fully equipped farmhouse kitchens, each with colour TV, DVD & Freeview. Cosy, welcoming beds made up for your arrival and a full complement of large, fluffy towels. Every cottage has its own unique character which makes self catering holidays at Melfort Village the perfect place to relax. Pets very welcome for a small weekly charge!!

Inner Village, Farm and Pier Holiday Cottages -
These properties maintain most of the original features of the Victorian farm buildings, including their 3 ft thick walls! The comfortable furnishings and decor are in modern farmhouse style. Electric heating is supplemented by either an open fire or wood-burning stove. Each cottage has access to an area of garden ground. Please see the various cottage's available at this location below:
Beechwood House - Sleeping up to 6 in 2 bedrooms + sofa bed Detached two-storey cottage, set into the hillside amongst the Beech woods.
Blacksmiths Cottage - Sleeping up to 6 in 2 bedrooms + sofa bed
Lies on the banks of the River Oude and is in an idyllic setting close by the tennis court and stables.
Coachmans Cottage - Sleeping up to 4, 1 bedroom + sofa bed
This single storey self catering cottage is situated next to the old stable Mews and has a walled garden to the front.
Coachmans East & West Cottages - Sleeping up to 6 in each, 2 bedrooms + sofa bed
Lying adjacent to the old Coachmans Cottage, the Mews have been converted into two flats with an elevated position affording fine south westerly views.
Upper & Lower Cooperage - Sleeping up to 6 in each, 2 bedrooms + sofa bed
The Cooperage apartments (one ground floor & one first floor) lie at the Western end of the Gunpowder House.
Farm Cottages - Large stone building comprising of three cottages and has a large shared rear garden.

Fantastic views over the Inner Estate. It is an attractive single storey detached cottage, faced with local stone.
Stables Cottages - These fine cottages were once known as the Court of Offices, but more recently were the home of the estate's Highland ponies.

Walled Garden Holiday Cottages -
These cottages form a crescent-shaped Mews within the original walls of the old Estate Garden, which was designed as a suntrap over 200 years ago. The Walled Garden is situated some 700yds from the Inner Village and enjoys views over the fields to Loch Melfort beyond. These light and airy cottages are enhanced by comfortable furnishings and open plan living/dining/kitchen area. Electric heating and each has its own private patio overlooking the main gardens. The Wishing Tree Walk - Great local favourite with our guests, offering
beautiful views across Loch Melfort and down the sound of Jura on the

There are two separate Games Rooms, they both have a table tennis table, a small snooker table and a dart board. football table, playstation (with games to hire) and various board games.
Snooker/Club Room - Snooker Room with antique full-size snooker table is a wonderfully relaxing room, furnished in country house style. Small well-stocked library, wide screen TV with Satellite channels, board games. Strictly no unsupervised children under 17 years.
Tennis Court -
Full size, all weather tennis court, tennis racquets and balls available to borrow. Book the court for one hour sessions on the day of play only. During busy periods we allow one session per cottage.
Play Room -
suitable for supervised children under 12 years. Well stocked with lovely selection of toys including wooden train set, garage, dolls house & cooker. It also has a small wall-mounted TV and video player, comfy seating, accessible toilet with baby changing facilities.
Putting Green - Essentially a “rough” 9-hole putting green suitable for family fun. Golf Clubs and balls available to borrow.
well-maintained children’s playground equipped with sturdy wooden climbing frame with slide, two sets of swings (one with toddler seats), rope bridge and swing ball. There is another set of swings and swing ball situated in Walled Garden area.

Bike Hire - "Mountain style" bikes for adults & children can be hired from Reception for as little as £2 per hour (min 2 hours)/ £12 per day. Helmets & Child set hire free of charge. Stabilizers and tow-along bike available.
Squash & Badminton -
Squash and Badminton can be played at Kilmelford Village Hall. Bookings can be made at reception – equipment available.
