Risdene is a cosy 3 bedroom chalet set in beautiful countryside on the banks of the River Thurne. It benefits from a 70'/23m river frontage, making it ideal for boating and fishing enthusiasts or those who simply wish to sit and relax watching the boats go by.

The cottage is ideally suited for 4 adults + 2 children. Downstairs you will find a double bedroom and a steep staircase leads you to 2 further bedrooms with a single bed in each. 2 additional children can be accommodated on camp beds in each of the upstairs bedrooms.

Risdene has a lovely garden with a table and chairs, an undercover patio area and a barbecue, there is also free WiFi. You can enjoy sitting on the porch taking in the views of the river and the local wildlife or, if you wish, you can hire a boat and go out onto the water exploring the delights of the Norfolk Broads.

For all your local amenities, Potter Heigham village is only 20 minutes' walk away. There are two pubs, a chip-shop, bakery, post office and coffee shop. The famous Lathams store caters for all your grocery needs and also has a superb fishing department selling tackle and fresh bait. Risdene is the ideal retreat all year round for families and couples alike.

Important: Risdene is accessible by boat or on foot only (approx. 10-15 minute walk). There is an allocated parking space (available at no extra charge) in Potter Heigham at the start of the path which runs alongside the river.

The deposit is 20% and is non-refundable. The balance is due 8 weeks before the holiday start date. If you have to cancel the holiday within these 8 weeks we will do our best to re-let it. If we are successful at letting at full price then we will refund your balance.


You may occupy the property from 4pm. Please could you vacate the property by 11am at the latest.


Your hire includes all bed linen (apart from the extra beds), hand towels, all heating and electricity. You are welcome to use the kayaks, rowing boat, bicycles, trampoline and gas barbecue, but these are at your own risk. The owners’ small cruiser though moored in the boat dock will not be available for use.


We regret that dogs are not permitted.

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for the property for the period of your booking and will be expected to take reasonable care of it. The property and contents should be left clean and tidy.


We understand that accidents do happen, and accept responsibility for normal wear and tear and minor breakages. If you have any breakages please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make necessary replacements for subsequent guests. We reserve the right to charge for any major breakages or accidents.


The owners accept no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage, injury or accident to the hirer or any member of the hirer’s party or property whilst in occupation of the property.

  • The variety of fish on the Broads include: pike, carp, eel, bream, roach, trench, perch and rudd.
  • A fishing licence is required, this can be purchased online via the Environment Agency here.
  • Fishing available during open season. Closed season is between 15th March - 15th June.
