Bridge Cottage is a renovated 3 bedroom canalside country cottage. This lovely traditional holiday cottage has slate floors throughout the lower level, leading from the cosy sitting room into a snug and welcoming kitchen / diner. Along with full radiator central heating all through the property, the sitting room has a charming solid fuel stove where you can sit back and enjoy comfy evenings in front of the fire.

This waterside country cottage has 3 bedrooms accommodating up to five guests: one double with TV, one twin with TV and a separate single. The family bathroom has a walk-in shower. Bed linen and towels are included. The holiday cottage comes equipped with Freeview TV and complimentary WiFi.

Dogs are made welcome and to the front of the cottage there is a low walled garden area, laid to lawn, with garden furniture provided (a BBQ can be supplied on request). The cottage itself is flanked by open fields to one side and an attractive canal wharf on the other, with colourful narrowboats regularly puttering by. There is private gated car parking.

Bridge Cottage provides a perfect base for visiting the nearby City of Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Silverstone and for exploring the beautiful Cotswold villages that are nearby.

The canal wharf also operates a little narrowboat called 'Comet' which can be hired for the day during your stay, if not already booked. Why not enjoy a day’s cruise along the scenic South Oxford Canal, stopping at a pub for lunch or for a traditional cream tea, then returning to the Wharf around 5.00pm.

25% deposit is required on booking, balance is due 6 weeks beforehand.

£250 refundable security deposit, pre-authorised on a card on arrival.

Check is 2.00pm; check out is 10.00am (please note: anglers may arrive or leave outside of the check in times but will not have access to the cabins other than during the times stated).

The cottage is not available for Stag or Hen parties.

Young children need to be supervised at all times due to proximity of water.

Location Information

Bridge Cottage provides an ideal base for visiting Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Silverstone.

Explore the popular Cotswolds towns and villages such as Burford, Stowe and Bourton-on-The Water - all are within an hour's drive of the cottage.

Adderbury village is approximately 5 minutes' drive from the cottage. In the village there are a couple of pubs, a coffee house, plus a playing field and Adderbury Lakes.

Banbury town centre is within a 15 minutes' drive from the cottage - which offers plenty of shopping and a cinema. There is also a Sainsburys and Morrisons supermarket for picking up provisions.

Terms & Conditions


Arrival/ Departure:Our usual booking week is Friday to Friday; however, we do accept short break bookings also of a minimum of three nights. Please arrive at Bridge Cottage after 3 pm. (kindly advise us of your anticipated time of arrival);
Occupancy:Bridge Cottage sleeps a maximum of 5 persons and 2 dogs. You are welcome to have guests visit you during your stay at Bridge, but they may not stay overnight and the person responsible for the booking must remain in the cottage when visiting guests are on site, with the exception of a babysitter / child minder.
Linen and Towels:All bed linen is provided. We also provide one bath towel and one hand towel for every member of the booking but insist that guests bring their own dog towels.
Housekeeping Deposit:Please treat Bridge Cottage as you would your own home and leave it as you found it. We do not take a housekeeping deposit for damage, breakages or spillages, but ask that all guests inform us immediately of any damage or breakages howsoever caused so we have time to provide replacements for you or subsequent guests where necessary. We reserve the right to charge for any damage or breakages howsoever caused. If this is necessary, we will send you and invoice which is payable on demand. If Bridge is not relatively clean and tidy when you leave, we may charge for additional cleaning.
Cancellation Policy:For a 50% refund of the above booking fee, cancellation of tis booking must be made fourteen full days (2 weeks) prior to the arrival time on the arrival day, otherwise we regret no refund will be given. Following confirmation of your booking, in the unlikely event of Bridge Cottage becoming unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control, a complete refund will be paid including the deposit.
Safety:Please be aware we are next to the Oxford Canal and there is no protective fencing between the driveway and the water. Please keep a close eye on your children near the waters edge. Children under the age of 16 may not be left unsupervised either in the cottage or in the garden / grounds.
Dogs:A maximum of 2 well-behaved, fully house-trained dogs (over a year old; sorry no puppies) are welcome at the cottage and we make a supplementary charge of £30.00 per dog per week or part thereof. Please bring a basket or bedding and do not allow dogs upstairs, in bedrooms or on the furniture. Dogs are not to be left alone or unattended either in the Cottage or in the garden/grounds, and must be kept under close control at all times. Please clean up after your dog.
Liability:Anyone staying at or visiting Bridge Cottage at Twyford Wharf does so entirely at their own risk. We do not accept liability for any damage or loss or for personal injury, unless caused by our own negligence. We reserve the right to change our details from those advertised and to refuse bookings when our details are in error. If Bridge Cottage is not available due to circumstances beyond our control, then we will return all your payments. There is parking for two vehicles on site but we do not accept any liability for vehicles and /or contents left within. If anything is especially important to you then please check before booking.

Fishing on the South Oxford Canal

Fishing is free of charge and a valid Fishing Licence is required by law. To be able to fish at Bridge Cottage, you and any members of your party who want to fish, must present your fishing Licence at check-in. You must not be a nuisance to other guests on the Wharf and you must observe the Fishing Rules. Fishing is prohibited from the quay area but is available from the Canal edge directly opposite on the canal next to your accommodation. Children under the age of sixteen must be supervised at all times.

Banbury - there are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the town. There is also the Castle Quay Shopping Complex.

Pretty Cotswolds villages & towns nearby - Stowe, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water.

Oxford City - just under 1 hour drive or by public transport.

Adderbury Lakes - 1.8 hectare local nature reserve in Adderbury, Oxfordshire.

Broughton Castle - a fortified Manor House, gardens and tea room located near Banbury. Open for visitors between April and September on Wednesdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays.

Birdland Park & Gardens - visit the park and discover a range of birds, with riverside walks along with a dinosaur trail for children and 'close encounters' with penguins, lizards, tortoises and snakes.

Silverstone - enjoy an adrenaline filled day at Silverstone by booking in a track day or just watching an event.

Blenheim Palace - approximately 30 minutes in the car and you will arrive at this country house in Woodstock. A World Heritage Site with over 300 years of history and home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family.

Bicester Village - enjoy a shopping day at Bicester home to over 160 designer outlet stores.
