The Unicorn Stable is a quaint and cosy holiday cottage located on farmland in the traditional village of Bere Alston, nestled alongside the stunning Tamar Valley in South West England.

This quirky holiday property is surrounded by nature and wildlife. The River Tamar runs next to the holiday cottage and provides the perfect opportunity for fishing, boating or walking. You can launch all types of small craft, from kayaks and paddle boards to sailing dinghies; even larger boats can be moored up in the creek next to the property.

Inside, The Unicorn Stable has been furnished in an artistically imaginative style, so there’s something of interest around every corner, including murals and floor paintings. The holiday cottage gives you everything needed to self-cater and can accommodate five people in one king size double, one conventional double and one single. There’s a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable living / dining room. Outside you’ll find a pretty cottage garden with spectacular views over the valley.

There is a small stoney beach around 100m from the property where you can launch and swim.

The River Tamar is perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing.

Bere Alston train station is only 1.3 miles from the property.

The village of Bere Alston is a 10 minute drive and has a supermarket & fish and chip shop.

Multiple pubs & restaurants within a 30 minute drive.

The City of Exeter is just over an hour away by car.

Terms & Conditions


Please fully read these terms and conditions below.

1:

The property is available after 4:00 p.m on the day of arrival. The Property is to be vacated by 10.00 a.m on the day of departure.

2:

Accommodation in our property is restricted to the number of persons stated on the booking form.

3:

When booking more than 60 days in advance a deposit of 1/3rd of the total rental cost is required to secure your booking. This must be done within 4 hours upon confirmation of acceptance in order to secure the booking. Failure to do so may render your booking invalid. All reservations are subject to written confirmation. If the application is not accepted, the advanced deposit will be refunded in full.
The balance of the total rental cost must be paid in full at least 8 weeks before the holiday is due to commence. Failure to send the required amount by the due date may be (at our discretion) regarded, as cancellation of the holiday by you and the advance deposit will not be refunded. Special offers: If we have quoted a special offer, then the total becomes payable with your booking.
Full payment is required if the booking is done within 60 days from the arrival date. The deposit is non-refundable. Please take out adequate insurance to cover all eventualities. Payment is only accepted in UK sterling.

4:

The clients are responsible for keeping and leaving the property in a clean and tidy condition. Cleaning and breakages will be charged for. Please check the inventory on arrival and report any discrepancies within 24 hours.

5:

If for any reason beyond the owner’s control (e.g. fire damage) the property is not ready on the date booked, all rent and charges paid in advance by the client will be refunded in full but the client shall have no further claim against the owner.

6:

Reservations for all male or female parties of people (10+ people) must give all names of the party. Booking must be pre-approved by us. We do not accept stag parties.

7:

Pets are only accepted at £5.00 per pet per night, pet owners are totally responsible for their pets and any damage caused by their pets.

8:

We (the owners) cannot accept liability for injury or loss of life to any person or animal or for loss or damage to any property brought onto the premises, or for any loss or damage caused by any vehicle on the premises.

9:

The facilities may only be used by persons actually residing in our property and not by visiting guests. Please ensure adequate parental guidance when using our facilities. We cannot take responsibility for accidents on our property.

10:

Any breakdown of amenities or equipment cannot be held the responsibility of the owners. We shall make every effort to rectify any faults or make repairs as soon as possible.

11:

Where applicable, prices quoted in the tariff, including VAT and insurance Premiums include insurance premium tax.

12:

A binding contract between us will come into existence when you sign the booking form, or when you complete the online booking system. For telephone bookings you are deemed as having read this agreement, and this contract will come into existence at that time.

13:

Your vehicles and their accessories and contents are left entirely at your risk. We will not be responsible for any damage or loss to any vehicle whatsoever.

14:

The person making the booking is deemed as being the person responsible for the whole party, and it is their duty to ensure that everyone in their party accepts and abides by these terms and conditions. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children, and should be supervised where necessary.

Important Information

  • Fishing is available on the River Tamar, accessed via a path next to the property.
  • Salmon, sea trout, sea bass and a host of other fish can be caught.
  • Standard Rod licence is required to fish.
  • Salmon fishing season runs from March 1st to October 14th.
  • Greyling fishing season runs from 16th June to 14th March
  • Sea trout fishing in the Tamar Valley is at its peak in July and August.
