General

Situated in the Central Highlands, on the shores of stunning Loch Tay, the Loch Tay Highland Lodges estate in Perthshire can be found in one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland. It is surrounded by dramatic mountains, breath-taking lochs, parkland and pristine rivers and is within easy driving distance of Edinburgh, Sterling and Glasgow. Ideal for anybody who’s seeking a tranquil, self-catering retreat, these comfortable lodges are perfect for couples or families, activity holidays or a leisurely fishing break with friends. Holidaymakers return here year after year and it’s not hard to see why; with walks and adventures on the doorstep, the craggy shores of Loch Tay to explore, a huge abundance of wildlife to spot including deer and otters, excellent fishing, clean comfortable properties and great onsite facilities. Onsite amenities include The Boathouse restaurant and bar which extends a warm Scottish welcome to all guests; there is a fully-covered fire pit area where you can sit back to chat and relax; a children’s playground with swings, slides and climbing frames; plus a warm, cosy central recreation room with a log burning stove. An array of activities are available to guests including boat hire, archery, axe throwing, golf, paddle-boarding, gorge walking and guided canoe tours.
Overlooking the estate, Loch Tay House reigns over the neighbouring lodges from its elevated position on the hillside which provides it with privacy along with some fantastic views across the loch towards the distant hills and mountains. This luxury detached holiday property has an upside-down design and is set in its own private gardens. There are stunning panoramic views from the first floor where you’ll find a large open-plan living area with a comforting open fire for cooler weather; patio doors lead to a south-facing balcony which is perfect for al-fresco dining or for sitting back in the evenings to admire the stars. In the very comfortably furnished living area you’ll find a very well-equipped kitchen, a sturdy dining table with seating for 10 and an attached utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The five bedrooms can mostly be found on the ground floor and they include a master double with en-suite bathroom, plus two en-suite double bedrooms and two twin rooms, one having a further en-suite bathroom. The family bathroom has a bath with shower above, a WC and hand basin, plus there is a separate WC for your convenience. Special features include a large outdoor hot tub and a fire pit with log chairs. There is a ‘snug’ TV room with a lovely balcony and views over the hillside to the rear of the property; plus the master king-size bedroom has a large en-suite bathroom and its own built-in sauna!
For off-site activities or days out there are numerous places to visit. You can feed the animals at Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, take a Highland Safari, go white water rafting or quad biking; take a boat trip around Loch Tay or play a round of golf in Killin. History buffs can visit Castle Menzies or Doune Castle (where the TV series Outlander is filmed) and nature lovers can take a walk around beautiful Dochart Falls. In the evening, why not visit Birks Cinema at Aberfeldy to watch the latest blockbuster?
The Boathouse restaurant and bar serves up a hearty menu inspired by a fantastic range of Scottish products including Shetland mussels, freshly landed fish, steak pie or haggis with ‘neeps and tatties’. Themed evenings take place, especially during the summer months, and the bar area offers a warm and cosy welcome if you fancy a drink. There is also a fabulous outdoor seating area which overlooks the impressive loch, an absolutely wonderful place to enjoy some sunny afternoons or amazing night skies. Loch Tay Highland Lodges is the perfect location for a holiday away from the hustle bustle, where you can be as laid back or as active as you want.
