This is one of the most beautiful locations by the sea providing an ideal touring base for the Highlands & Islands. For the avid hillwalkers amongst you, Ben Cruachan is one of the finest of all the Munro’s in the Southern Highlands. Take the challenging climb to the summit of 3694ft. The awe inspiring and breathtaking panoramic views of Loch Etive and Loch Awe beneath you makes the arduous ascent worthwhile. Or for a different perspective take the journey inside the mountain and learn all about the hydroelectric power created from the Cruachan Reservoir and Dam. Alternatively, a short 30 minute car journey brings you to the coastal town of Oban. Known as the seafood capital of Scotland, be sure to try out the local delicacies, perhaps after a brisk walk up to McCaigs Tower for the scenic view over Oban Bay. Finish with a wee dram of whisky from the Oban distillery, one of the smallest and oldest in Scotland.
