Arch Cottage is situated within the stunning Torrisdale Castle private estate, located on the east coast of the Kintyre.

Arch Cottage was once the chauffeur’s lodgings and has retained plenty of charm. The cottage itself is split across three floors and sleeps two in a large kingsize bedroom on the top floor, this romantic cottage also has a log burning stove. Wonderful for couples and cosy romantic breaks away.

Torrisdale Castle & Estate offers the ideal location to enjoy the spectacular scenery from your doorstep. There are great walks available including the nearby hills of Beinn an Tuirc, Kintyre's highest peak to view some of spectacular views.

Second Floor - Superking bedroom which can be separated into two single beds upon request with an ensuite bathroom (shower over bath), W/C & wash basin.

Ground Floor - Cloakroom with W/C & wash basin.

Pets welcome but please keep strict control, pets are not permitted on the furniture.

Location Information

Torrisdale Castle & Estate offers the perfect location to enjoy wonderful scenery from your doorstep plus a great array of wildlife and nature at its best on the Kintyre Peninsula. Seals are often spotted sunning themselves on the rocks down by the beach. You can also head out in a canoe or take a trip out on a boat.

The family run Torrisdale Castle was extended in the early 1900's by the Macalister Hall family, now the estate diversified into tourism making it a wonderful venue for families, groups and couples looking for the ideal romantic break with a hot tub.

Torrisdale grounds are great for the keen walker, plus the Kintyre Way actually passes through the estate. Cycle hire is available and there are easy family bike trails round the estate to enjoy. Guests are also free to bring canoes, dinghies etc to use off the estate’s private beach. The area surrounding Torrisdale offers activities for everyone, including golf, horse-riding, water sports, two distilleries and also boat trips around Kintyre and to the famous Isle of Arran.

Terms & Conditions


Deposit

All booking applications must be accompanied by a deposit. The deposit is accepted as part payment and the balance should be paid not less than 42 days (6 weeks) before the starting date of the holiday. If the booking is made less than 42 days before the starting date of the holiday, the full amount should be paid. The deposit is normally non returnable.

Security Deposit

A £100 security deposit is requested for every booking for the Servants’ Quarters. This is refunded electronically at the end of the holiday subject to any breakages or damage.

Reservation

Reservation is subject to the accommodation being available when the deposit is received and then confirmed by us by email.

Non Payment of Full Charge

Non receipt of the full accommodation charged at the time specified above will be treated as a cancellation of reservation and the deposit will be forfeited. The booking will then be subject to the cancellation procedure outlined below where the whole cost of the holiday accommodation will become due, unless we are able to re-let for the same period at an equivalent rate.

Cancellation

Should a client wish to cancel a booking, notice should be given in writing. Provided the cancellation is received not less than 42 days before the start of the holiday, only the deposit will be forfeited. If the notice is received less than 42 days before the start of the holiday and the accommodation is re-let, only the deposit will be forfeited. Otherwise you will be liable to pay the total cost of the booking. You are strongly advised to insure against financial loss owing to cancellation of the booking. The cover can be obtained from most insurance companies at normal rates.

Arrival and Departure

Weekly holidays are booked from either Friday to Friday or Monday to Monday (any number of weeks), with short-breaks available mid-week and over the weekend. Takeover time is not before 4pm, unless by prior arrangement. Please vacate your accommodation by 10am, and leave it clean and tidy.

Maximum Number of Occupants

Unless prior authority has been received, the number of people occupying the property MUST NOT exceed the number for which beds are provided.

Pets

We welcome pets but they must be kept under proper control. They are not allowed on furniture and owners are asked to remove all traces of dog hairs etc. before leaving. We reserve the right to charge for any cleaning made necessary by your pets. Please let us know if you are bringing a pet. Dog owners are advised to keep their animals under strict control and are reminded that farmers have the right to shoot dogs worrying their sheep (thankfully never happened!).

Breakages

Any damage caused to the property or any equipment lost, damaged or broken during the occupancy should be reported and paid for.

Unsuitable Hirers

The owners have a right to refuse to hand over holiday accommodation to any person who, in their opinion, is unsuitable to take charge. In this case, money will be refunded in full.

Problems

If you have any problems during your stay, please let us know as soon as possible to allow us to deal with them quickly, and not let anything spoil your holiday.

Torrisdale Castle and Estate

Local Supermarket - There is a Tesco and Co-op at Campbeltown, appoximately 16 miles away.

Local Village - Carradale is an attractive fishing village located 2 miles away. There is a village shop for basic provisions, plus a bakery and tea room. There is a restaurant within the Carradale Hotel, Dunvalanree or Ashbank Hotel.

Golf - Carradale has a challenging 9 hole course with spectacular coastal views. Dunaverty Golf Club, near Southend, and Tarbert Championship golf links course at Machrihanish.

Walking - The Kintyre Way is a 87 mile route from Tarbert at the north end of Kintyre, to Southend in the south.

Saddell Castle - a 16th century castle located near the hamlet of Saddell on the shore of the Kilbrannan Sound.

Visit Islay and Jura - take the ferry Kennacraig crossing. Home to plenty of attractions on both islands, including distilleries, historical sites, pubs & restaurants.

The Isle of Gigha - the most southerly of the Hebridean Islands.
